Darfur Force Failing To Protect Civilians

From BBC: African aid agencies say the African-UN peacekeeping mission in Sudan’s Darfur region is failing to provide adequate protection for civilians.

A report published by a group of mainly African relief and advocacy groups, the Darfur Consortium, said the force was too small and inadequately funded.

It said six months after the mission began, only about a third of the 26,000 personnel promised had been deployed.

The five-year-old Darfur conflict has left some 300,000 people dead. click here for the rest.

300,000 people is the equivalent of a whole city or town being wiped out. For those, such as myself, who live in Oklahoma, it would be as if every person in Oklahoma City were dead. This is unacceptable.

For those not familiar with the conflict in Darfur, the United States has accused the Sudan government of genocide against Darfur’s black African’s. There is also evidence discovered by BBC, that the Chinese are supplying the government with fighter pilots, and weapons. The Chinese are silent on these accusations.

Let your voice be heard. Contact the UN, your senators, and other government officials. Tell others of these murders and ask them to get involved. Educate yourself on the situation in Darfur. Please help those who cannot speak for themselves.
